Overview
Iron appears throughout Scripture as a metal of exceptional strength and permanence, used for weapons, tools, and implements of worship. Its hardness and resistance to breaking made it a powerful symbol of God's strength and the unbreakable nature of His covenant with His people.
Key Scriptures
"And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 'Only the gold, the silver, the bronze, the iron, the tin, and the lead, everything that can withstand the fire, you shall pass through the fire, and it shall be clean. Nevertheless, it shall also be purified with the water for impurity. But everything that cannot withstand the fire you shall pass through the water'" (Numbers 31:21-23, ESV).
Application
Just as iron must be refined through fire and water to become pure and usable, believers are refined through trials and God's Word to become vessels fit for His service.
