Sin (2)

Sin is rebellion against God's character and law, deserving judgment. Understanding sin's nature and consequences drives us to repentance and faith in Christ.

Overview

Sin encompasses both active transgression against God's commands and the fallen nature inherited from Adam. Every person has sinned and fallen short of God's glory, separating us from Him and bringing spiritual death. The wages of sin is death, but God offers redemption through Christ's sacrifice.

Key Scriptures

"Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all people, because all sinned" (Romans 5:12, NIV).

"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord" (Romans 6:23, ESV).

"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9, ESV).

Application

Recognize your sinfulness before God, confess specific sins to Him, and trust in Christ's work on the cross as your only means of forgiveness and restoration.
