Silla

Silla was a throne or seat in the Jerusalem temple where the king of Judah sat during official ceremonies and coronations. It represents the establishment of God's kingdom rule through the Davidic monarchy.

Overview

Silla appears in Scripture as a significant seat of authority in the temple complex at Jerusalem. It was associated with the formal recognition and legitimacy of Judah's kings, particularly in moments of national importance and covenant renewal.

Key Scriptures

"Then the servants of Amon conspired against him and killed the king in his own house" (2 Kings 12:20, ESV). The account references the throne context of Judean kingship and God's judgment on unfaithful rulers. "As for you, if you walk before me faithfully with all your heart and with all your soul and obey all I command and keep my decrees and laws, I will establish your royal throne over Israel forever" (1 Kings 9:4-5, NIV)—God's covenant promise regarding the Davidic throne.

Application

Reflect on how God's authority ultimately supersedes all earthly thrones, and pray that leaders today would seek wisdom and faithfulness to His Word.
