Tabbaoth

Tabbaoth was a family of temple servants who returned from Babylonian exile with Zerubbabel. Their name appears in the lists of those who helped rebuild Jerusalem.

Overview

Tabbaoth was among the Nethinim (temple servants) who returned from captivity in Babylon under Zerubbabel's leadership. These individuals were dedicated to service in God's temple, maintaining its functions and assisting the priests in their duties.

Key Scriptures

"The children of Tabbaoth, the children of Keros, the children of Siaha" (Ezra 2:43, NASB). "The children of Tabbaoth, the children of Keros, the children of Sia" (Nehemiah 7:46, NASB). Both passages list Tabbaoth among the temple servants returning to rebuild the temple and restore worship in Jerusalem.

Application

The faithful return of these servants reminds us that every role in God's work—whether prominent or supporting—is essential to His purposes, and that obedience to rebuild and restore His worship should animate our own service today.
