Vajezatha

Vajezatha was one of the ten sons of Haman who were executed during the events recorded in the book of Esther. His name appears in the list of Haman's sons who were hanged along with their father.

Overview

Vajezatha was the tenth and final son of Haman the Agagite, the enemy of the Jewish people during the reign of King Ahasuerus of Persia. When Esther's identity as a Jew was revealed and Haman's plot to destroy the Jews was exposed, both Haman and his ten sons were executed. Vajezatha's death occurred on the thirteenth day of Adar, the same day appointed for the destruction of the Jews, which instead became a day of deliverance and triumph for God's people.

Key Scriptures

"The sons of Haman the son of Hammedatha, the enemy of the Jews, were hanged... and Vajezatha" (Esther 9:9, ESV). The full account shows God's sovereignty in protecting His covenant people and bringing judgment upon those who plotted their destruction.

Application

The account of Vajezatha reminds believers that God ultimately judges evil and preserves His people, encouraging trust in His sovereign protection even in dangerous circumstances.
