Rebellion

Rebellion is a serious sin that opposes God's authority and order. Scripture warns that rebellious hearts invite judgment and separation from God.

Overview

Rebellion represents a deliberate rejection of legitimate authority, ultimately rooted in defiance against God Himself. The Bible consistently portrays rebellion as destructive both spiritually and practically, affecting individuals, families, and nations. A rebellious spirit seeks its own way rather than submitting to God's design and leadership.

Key Scriptures

"An evil man seeks only rebellion; therefore a cruel messenger will be sent against him" (Proverbs 17:11, ESV). "Rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry" (1 Samuel 15:23, KJV). "Every person is to be in subjection to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those which exist are established by God" (Romans 13:1, NASB).

Application

Examine your heart for areas where you resist God's Word or authority He has established, and repent of rebellion by submitting to His lordship and design for your life.
