Pochereth

Pochereth was a servant of Solomon whose descendants returned from Babylonian exile with Zerubbabel. His name appears in the lists of those who helped rebuild Jerusalem.

Overview

Pochereth is mentioned only in the genealogical records of those who returned from captivity in Babylon. He was among Solomon's servants, and his descendants were numbered among the exiles who came back to Jerusalem under Zerubbabel's leadership to rebuild the temple and city. Though little is known about him personally, his inclusion in these records demonstrates God's faithfulness in preserving a remnant.

Key Scriptures

"The children of Shephatiah, the children of Hattil, the children of Pochereth-hazzebaim, the children of Ami" (Ezra 2:57, NASB).

"The children of Shephatiah, the children of Hattil, the children of Pochereth-hazzebaim, the children of Amon" (Nehemiah 7:59, NASB).

Application

Pochereth's descendants' inclusion in the restoration reminds us that God preserves His people through exile and remembers the faithful, even when individuals fade from historical prominence.
