Overview
The land of Moriah appears in Scripture as the site of God's pivotal test of Abraham's faith and obedience. This region, identified with Jerusalem, became the spiritual center of Israel's worship when Solomon constructed the temple there centuries later.
Key Scriptures
"Then he said, 'Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you.'" (Genesis 22:2, ESV)
"Then Solomon began to build the house of the LORD in Jerusalem on Mount Moriah, where the LORD had appeared to his father David, at the place that David had appointed, on the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite." (2 Chronicles 3:1, ESV)
Application
Reflect on how God's tests deepen our faith and how surrendering our greatest treasures to Him demonstrates genuine trust and worship.
