Overview
While the liver is not frequently highlighted in Scripture compared to the heart, biblical writers used anatomical references to describe the inner workings of human emotion and desire. The liver, along with other organs, represented the depths of human nature that only God can truly know and transform.
Key Scriptures
"I am feeble and severely broken; I groan because of the tumult of my heart" (Psalm 38:8, ESV). "Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks" (Matthew 12:34, ESV). "Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life" (Proverbs 4:23, NLT).
Application
Just as God examines the deepest parts of our being, we should invite the Holy Spirit to search our hearts and transform our inner desires to align with Christ's character and purposes.
