The return of Christ, also called the Second Coming, is Jesus's promised return to earth to judge all people and establish His eternal kingdom. This foundational Christian doctrine encourages believers to live faithfully while awaiting His return.

Overview

Jesus promised His disciples that He would return to earth (John 14:3). This return will be visible, sudden, and certain, bringing final judgment and the completion of God's redemptive plan. All believers are called to live in anticipation of this event.

Key Scriptures

"And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also" (John 14:3, ESV).

"But concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only" (Matthew 24:36, ESV).

"Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come" (Matthew 24:42, NIV).

Application

Live each day in readiness for Christ's return by pursuing holiness, sharing the Gospel, and placing your ultimate hope in Jesus rather than earthly pursuits.
