Left-Handed

Left-handedness in Scripture is rarely mentioned but appears in specific historical and military contexts, with no moral or spiritual significance attached to it.

Overview

The Bible mentions left-handedness in only a few instances, primarily in the Old Testament. These references appear in historical narratives involving warriors and judges, presented as a neutral physical characteristic. There is no biblical teaching suggesting left-handedness is sinful, abnormal, or spiritually problematic.

Key Scriptures

"Among all these soldiers, there were seven hundred chosen men who were left-handed, each of whom could sling a stone at a hair and not miss" (Judges 20:16, NIV).

"Ehud was a left-handed man, and he made a double-edged sword about a foot and a half long, which he strapped to his right thigh under his clothing" (Judges 3:15-16, NIV).

Application

Christians should recognize that physical differences like handedness are part of God's design and have no bearing on spiritual maturity or worth before the Lord.
