Lapidoth

Lapidoth was the husband of Deborah the prophetess and judge of Israel during the period of the Judges. While little is recorded about him directly, his mention in Scripture affirms the importance of supportive spouses in God's redemptive plan.

Overview

Lapidoth appears only once in Scripture as the husband of Deborah, one of Israel's most significant judges. During a time when Israel faced oppression from Jabin king of Canaan, Deborah served as both prophetess and judge, delivering God's word to the people. Though Lapidoth's individual role is not detailed, his association with Deborah demonstrates that even those with minimal biblical mention played a part in God's purposes.

Key Scriptures

"Deborah, a prophetess, the wife of Lapidoth, was judging Israel at that time" (Judges 4:4, ESV).

"The Lord gave Sisera and all his chariots and all his army into the hand of Deborah" (Judges 4:15, ESV).

Application

Recognize that faithful believers often work behind the scenes; like Lapidoth, our support of others in ministry, though unseen, contributes significantly to God's kingdom work.
