Overview
Julius, a centurion of the Augustan cohort, was assigned to escort Paul and other prisoners to Rome for trial. Despite Paul's status as a prisoner, Julius treated him with respect and allowed him considerable freedom, even permitting him to visit friends. His humane treatment of Paul demonstrated the character of a godly leader and God's sovereign care over His servant.
