Overview
Evangelical Christians do not recognize Judith as canonical Scripture. The book appears in Catholic and Orthodox Bibles as deuterocanonical literature but was excluded from the Protestant canon during the Reformation based on its late composition, absence from the Hebrew Bible, and lack of New Testament citations or apostolic endorsement.
Key Scriptures
The Protestant biblical standard is articulated in 2 Timothy 3:16-17: "All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness" (ESV). Additionally, 1 John 2:20 affirms believers have "an anointing from the Holy One, and you all have knowledge" (ESV) to discern truth.
Application
Believers should study only the 66 canonical books as their authoritative source for doctrine and practice, while respectfully acknowledging that other Christian traditions hold different views on the biblical canon.
