Overview
Joktheel appears twice in Scripture as a geographical designation. In 2 Kings 14:7, it is mentioned as a name given to Sela (also called Petra) after King Amaziah of Judah conquered it from the Edomites. The name also appears in Joshua 15:38 as a city in the lowlands of Judah. While the exact locations remain somewhat uncertain to historians, these references demonstrate God's sovereignty over territorial conquests and the naming of places within His redemptive plan.
