Jokmeam

Jokmeam was a Levitical city in the territory of Ephraim, assigned to the descendants of Kohath during Israel's settlement of Canaan.

Overview

Jokmeam (also spelled Jokmeam) appears in the biblical record as one of the cities given to the Levites by the Israelites. As a Levitical city, it served as a residence for the priestly tribe and was strategically located within Ephraim's territory to distribute religious leadership throughout the nation.

Key Scriptures

"And from the tribe of Ephraim, Gezer with its pasture lands, Kibzaim with its pasture lands, and Beth Horon with its pasture lands; four cities. And from the tribe of Dan, Elteke with its pasture lands, Gibbethon with its pasture lands, Aijalon with its pasture lands, and Gath Rimmon with its pasture lands; four cities.
