The return of Jesus Christ is the central hope of Christian faith, when He will return visibly to judge the living and the dead and establish His eternal kingdom.

Overview

Jesus promised His disciples that He would return to earth (John 14:3). This return, also called the Second Coming or Parousia, is a foundational doctrine of Christianity affirmed throughout the New Testament. Christ will return in glory to complete redemption, judge all people, and reign eternally.

Key Scriptures

"And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am" (John 14:3, NIV).

"Look, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him; and all peoples on earth will mourn because of him" (Revelation 1:7, NIV).

"For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God" (1 Thessalonians 4:16, NIV).

Application

Living in light of Christ's return should motivate holy living, evangelism, and hope in uncertain times.
