Overview
Jericho represents Israel's first major conquest in Canaan after forty years of wilderness wandering. God miraculously enabled the Israelites to conquer the fortified city through faith and obedience to His specific instructions, including the famous marching around the walls.
Key Scriptures
"By faith the walls of Jericho fell down after they had been encircled for seven days" (Hebrews 11:30, ESV).
"Joshua said to the people, 'Shout! For the Lord has given you the city'" (Joshua 6:16, NIV).
"So the Lord was with Joshua, and his fame spread throughout all the land" (Joshua 6:27, NASB).
Application
Like the Israelites at Jericho, believers today should trust God's promises through obedient faith, even when His methods seem unconventional or impossible by human standards.
