Overview
Jashub was one of the four sons of Issachar mentioned in the genealogies of Israel (Genesis 46:13; Numbers 26:24; 1 Chronicles 7:1). He is sometimes listed as "Job" in certain biblical accounts. As a founding patriarch of the Jashubite clan within the tribe of Issachar, Jashub represents the tribal divisions through which God organized His covenant people during the wilderness wanderings and settlement of Canaan.
Key Scriptures
"The sons of Issachar: Tola, Puvah, Jashub, and Shimron" (1 Chronicles 7:1, ESV). "And the sons of Issachar were Tola and Puah, Jashub and Shimron" (Genesis 46:13, NASB). "From Issachar, the Jashubites" (Numbers 26:24, NIV).
Application
Reflect on how God preserved distinct tribal identities within Israel to fulfill His covenantal purposes, reminding us that God values order and knows each person within His church by name.
