Overview
Jesus Christ's return is a central promise of the New Testament and a foundational doctrine of evangelical Christianity. This future event will be visible, bodily, and glorious, involving the resurrection of believers, the final judgment, and the creation of a new heaven and new earth where God dwells with His people forever.
Key Scriptures
"For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord" (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17, ESV).
"When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his glorious throne" (Matthew 25:31, NIV).
"Now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face" (1 Corinthians 13:12, NIV).
Application
