The return of Jesus Christ (often called the Second Coming or Parousia) is the promised future event when Christ will return to earth in glory to judge all people and establish His eternal kingdom. This doctrine is foundational to Christian hope and eschatology.

Overview

Jesus explicitly promised His disciples that He would return (John 14:3). The New Testament consistently affirms this future event as certain and imminent, describing it as the culmination of God's redemptive plan where believers will be vindicated, unbelievers will face judgment, and creation will be restored.

Key Scriptures

"I am going away, and I will come back to you" (John 14:28, NIV). "Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into the sky? This Jesus, who has been taken up from you into heaven, will come in just the same way as you have watched Him go into heaven" (Acts 1:11, NASB). "For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first" (1 Thessalonians 4:16, NASB).

Application

Live with readiness and holy expectation for Christ's return, letting this hope motivate godly living and urgent witness to the unsaved.
