Overview
Ishod (also spelled Isho'od) appears in the genealogical records of the tribe of Benjamin. While little narrative detail is provided about his life, his inclusion in Scripture demonstrates God's sovereign ordering of Israel's tribes and the importance of tribal lineage in redemptive history.
Key Scriptures
"The sons of Heleph were Zelophehad's sons and these were all male offspring. And Ishod, Abiezer, and Mahlah and Noah and Kizlah and Tirzah" (1 Chronicles 7:19, NASB). The genealogies show how God preserved distinct tribal identities throughout Israel's history, with each family line serving a purpose in God's plan.
Application
Just as God recorded and preserved the genealogies of ancient Israel, He knows and values each believer personally—our names are written in the Lamb's Book of Life (Revelation 21:27), assuring us of our eternal significance in God's kingdom.
