Hornet

The return of hornets as God's instrument of judgment and deliverance, particularly in the conquest of Canaan, demonstrates divine power working through nature to accomplish His purposes.

Overview

God used hornets as an instrument of His judgment and deliverance throughout Scripture. Most notably, the Lord sent hornets ahead of Israel during the conquest of Canaan to drive out the inhabitants of the promised land, fulfilling His covenant promises to Abraham and his descendants.

Key Scriptures

"Moreover the LORD your God will send the hornet among them until those who are left and hide themselves from you are destroyed" (Deuteronomy 7:20, NASB).

"And I sent the hornet before you, which drove them out before you—the two kings of the Amorites—not by your sword or by your bow" (Joshua 24:12, ESV).

"I will send my terror ahead of you and throw into confusion every nation you encounter. I will make all your enemies turn their backs and run" (Exodus 23:27, NIV).

Application

Trust that God uses unexpected means to accomplish His purposes, and recognize that victory comes through His power rather than human strength alone.
