Hasenuah

Hasenuah was a leader among the returning exiles who helped rebuild Jerusalem's wall under Nehemiah's leadership, demonstrating faithful service in God's restoration work.

Overview

Hasenuah (also spelled Hashnuah) was a prominent figure among the Jewish exiles who returned from Babylon to rebuild Jerusalem. He served as a leader and administrator during the post-exile restoration period, working alongside Nehemiah to reconstruct the city walls and reestablish the community's spiritual and civic life.

Key Scriptures

"Hashnuah, the son of Zobebai, was over against them" (Nehemiah 3:16, KJV). His sons also participated in the rebuilding work: "And after him repaired Nehemiah the son of Azbuk, the ruler of the half part of Beth-zur, unto the place over against the sepulchres of David, and to the pool that was made, and unto the house of the mighty" (Nehemiah 3:16, KJV).

Application

Hasenuah's faithful leadership in rebuilding Jerusalem reminds believers today to actively participate in God's work of restoration and community building, whether through service in the church or society.
