Harvest, the

The harvest represents God's end-times judgment and gathering of believers, symbolizing both the final ingathering of souls and the culmination of Christ's return.

Overview

Throughout Scripture, harvest imagery depicts God's sovereignty over history's conclusion. Jesus taught that the harvest is plentiful but laborers are few, calling believers to urgent evangelism. The final harvest also represents divine judgment, when Christ separates the righteous from the unrighteous at His return.

Key Scriptures

"The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest" (Matthew 9:37-38, ESV).

"Let both grow together until the harvest, and at harvest time I will tell the reapers, Gather the weeds first and bind them in bundles to be burned, but gather the wheat into my barn" (Matthew 13:30, ESV).

"Then another angel came out of the temple in heaven, and he too had a sharp sickle. And another angel came out from the altar, the angel who has authority over the fire, and he called with a loud voice to the one who had the sharp sickle, 'Put in your sickle and gather the clusters from the vineyard of the earth, for its grapes are ripe'" (Revelation 14:17-18, ESV).
