The return of Christ is the future, literal, and bodily coming of Jesus to earth, which is central to Christian hope and eschatology.

Overview

The return of Christ refers to His second coming when He will visibly return to earth in glory and power. This event will culminate God's redemptive plan, judge all humanity, and establish His eternal kingdom. All believers are called to live in light of this blessed hope.

Key Scriptures

"For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first" (1 Thessalonians 4:16, NIV). "Then will appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven. And then all the peoples of the earth will mourn when they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory" (Matthew 24:30, NIV). "We know that when he appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is" (1 John 3:2, ESV).

Application

Believers should live holy, watchful, and faithful lives, motivated by the certain return of Christ and the urgency of sharing the Gospel.
