Christ's return is His promised future coming to judge the living and the dead, establish His kingdom, and consummate all things according to Scripture. Believers are called to live in watchful expectation of this blessed hope.

Overview

The return of Christ is a central doctrine of Christian faith, affirmed throughout the New Testament as both a literal, bodily event and an imminent promise. Jesus Himself taught about His return, and the apostles consistently exhorted believers to anticipate it. This event will culminate God's redemptive plan and usher in the final judgment and eternal state.

Key Scriptures

"Jesus said to them, 'You will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of Power and coming with the clouds of heaven'" (Matthew 26:64, ESV).

"For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God" (1 Thessalonians 4:16, ESV).

"Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come" (Matthew 24:42, NIV).

Application

Living in light of Christ's return should motivate holy living, faithful witness, and patient endurance through present trials.
