Hakupha

Hakupha was a family of temple servants (Nethinim) who returned from Babylonian exile with Zerubbabel to help rebuild the temple in Jerusalem.

Overview

Hakupha appears in the genealogical records of those who returned from captivity around 538 BC. As one of the Nethinim (temple servants), his descendants were dedicated to assisting the Levites in temple worship and maintenance. Their return demonstrates God's faithfulness in restoring His people and worship after exile.

Key Scriptures

"The children of Hakupha, the children of Harhur, the children of Bazluth" (Ezra 2:51, NASB). Also listed in Nehemiah 7:53 among those who returned with Zerubbabel. The Nethinim are described as those "whom David and the leaders had appointed for the service of the Levites" (Ezra 8:20, ESV).

Application

Consider how God preserves a faithful remnant through judgment and exile, and how He calls ordinary servants to vital roles in His kingdom work and worship.
