Ground

Ground Return refers to Christ's physical, literal return to earth, a foundational doctrine affirming that Jesus will bodily return as He ascended.

Overview

The Second Coming of Christ is presented throughout Scripture as a physical, visible return to earth. Jesus promised His disciples He would come again, and the apostles consistently taught that Christ's return would be literal and bodily, not merely spiritual or metaphorical. This doctrine distinguishes biblical Christianity from movements that spiritualize Christ's return or deny its literal nature.

Key Scriptures

"After he said this, he was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight. They were looking intently up into the sky as he was going, when suddenly two men dressed in white stood beside them. 'Men of Galilee,' they said, 'why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven.'" (Acts 1:9-11, NIV)

"Now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known." (1 Corinthians 13:12, NIV)

Application

Believers should live in holy expectation of Christ's return, maintaining readiness and faithfulness in their walk with Him.
