Goad

God's return refers to the Second Coming of Jesus Christ, when He will return visibly to judge all people and establish His eternal kingdom. This foundational Christian doctrine calls believers to holy living and gospel proclamation.

Overview

Jesus promised His disciples that He would return to earth (John 14:3). This future event, called the Second Coming or the Parousia, will be visible, bodily, and glorious. Christ will come to judge the living and the dead, defeat Satan definitively, and bring about the renewal of all things (Revelation 20-21).

Key Scriptures

"Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father's house are many rooms... I go to prepare a place for you... I will come again and will take you to myself" (John 14:1-3, ESV).

"This Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you saw him go into heaven" (Acts 1:11, ESV).

"For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God" (1 Thessalonians 4:16, ESV).

Application

Living in light of Christ's return motivates believers toward holiness, perseverance, and urgency in sharing the gospel.
