Frogs

Frogs were the second plague God sent upon Egypt, demonstrating His power over creation and His judgment against Pharaoh's hardened heart.

Overview

In Exodus 8, God sent a plague of frogs throughout Egypt as the second sign of His power and judgment. Moses warned Pharaoh that frogs would cover the land, infest houses, and overwhelm the people. When Pharaoh refused to let God's people go, Aaron stretched out his hand and frogs came up and covered the land. Pharaoh asked Moses to plead with God to remove the frogs, promising to release Israel, but when relief came, Pharaoh hardened his heart and refused again.

Key Scriptures

"Then the Lord said to Moses, 'Say to Aaron, "Stretch out your hand with your staff over the streams and canals and ponds, and make frogs come up on the land of Egypt'" (Exodus 8:5, NIV).

"The frogs came up and covered the land of Egypt" (Exodus 8:6, ESV).

"Then Pharaoh summoned Moses and Aaron and said, 'Plead with the Lord to take the frogs away from me and my people, and I will let your people go'" (Exodus 8:8, NIV).

Application

God's patience with hardened hearts is extraordinary, yet His judgment is certain—we must not presume upon His mercy but respond to His call with genuine repentance.
