Enam

Enam was a Levitical city in the tribal territory of Judah assigned to the priests, serving as a place of refuge and ministry.

Overview

Enam (also spelled Epher) was one of several cities designated as a Levitical city in the Old Testament. Located within the territory of Judah, it was assigned to the priests of the line of Aaron to provide them with a dwelling place and pastureland, reflecting God's provision for those set apart for His service.

Key Scriptures

"And the cities that were assigned to the sons of Aaron, the priests, from the tribe of Judah, from the tribe of Simeon, and from the tribe of Benjamin, thirteen cities" (Joshua 21:19, ESV). The Levitical cities represented God's care for those devoted to temple service and intercession. "The Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for him" (Lamentations 3:24, ESV)—reflecting the spiritual principle that Levites depended on God rather than inheritance of land.

Application

Consider how God provides for those called to spiritual service today, and trust His provision for your own needs as you serve Him faithfully.
