Eliakim

Eliakim's return as a faithful steward represents God's restoration of trustworthy leadership after judgment. His appointment demonstrates how God raises up reliable servants to manage His household.

Overview

Eliakim son of Hilkiah served as steward over King Hezekiah's household in Jerusalem (Isaiah 36:3). After the removal of Shebna, the previous steward who had become prideful and unfaithful, God restored Eliakim to a position of authority and trust, symbolizing divine restoration of righteous leadership.

Key Scriptures

"And it shall come to pass in that day that I will call my servant Eliakim the son of Hilkiah" (Isaiah 22:20, ESV). "And I will fasten him as a peg in a sure place, and he will become a throne of honor to his father's house" (Isaiah 22:23, ESV). "The key of the house of David I will lay upon his shoulder; so he shall open, and none shall shut; and he shall shut, and none shall open" (Isaiah 22:22, ESV).

Application

Trust God to establish faithful leaders in places of influence when we prioritize integrity and obedience over personal ambition.
