What is a Coney?
The coney, also known as the rock badger or hyrax, is a small mammal native to the Middle East and Africa. In Leviticus 11:5 and Deuteronomy 14:7, the coney is listed among the animals that chew the cud but do not divide the hoof, making it ceremonially unclean for the Israelites to eat.
