EL'IPHAZ, OR ELI'PHAZ (God his strength). The son of Esau and Adah, and father of Teman. Gen 36:4, Gen 36:10-16; 1 Chr 1:35-36. One of Job's three friends. Job 2:11. He is called the Temanite; hence it has been inferred he was a descendant of the Teman mentioned above. His part in the discussions with Job is marked by dignity and ability. His theme is the unapproachable majesty and purity of God. Job 4:12-21; Job 15:12-16. See Job, Book of.
